Sunday Morning Hike -Ravenswood from Magnolia Swamp to Ledge Hill Trail

Join us for a hike that explores all the distinctive areas of Ravenswood, from the lowland Magnolia Swamp on the west to the highland pine woods on the east.   See the map and route here.

The route offers a mix of terrain – starting with the easy boardwalk through Magnolia Swamp....to wide carriage roads... then narrow winding trails on the east-side "inner loops," through the deeper parts of the woods.  

Along the way, we’ll see rich vegetation of all types, including the namesake magnolias, old growth pines, and distinctive rocks covered with a rich head of bright green ferns.   The view from the lookout spot on Ledge Hill Trail is always spectacular, and on this hike, we’ll have a bonus, stopping there twice, coming from different directions. The trails vary from easy to moderate, with many ups and downs along the way.  Total distance is about 4 miles;   allow two hours from the starting point.

As always, please bring water, proper footwear and snacks (and bug spray/suncreen as needed).  Rain date will be scheduled for the following non-holiday Sunday.  And email will go out by Sunday morning at 8AM prior to the walk if it is cancelled due to rain.  

Registration is limited, please register early and if you cannot make it, let us know so we can add those on the wait list.  Group size has been restricted to 20.
