Join us for a 4- mile hike in Manchester’s “Western Woods”.  This is a beautiful area of over 500 acres of undeveloped land in the western part of Manchester (south of 128), much of it owned and protected by Manchester Essex Conservation Trust, and the Town of Manchester.

The majority of the hike will follow a newly blazed “Yellow Loop” trail route that was marked, and is actively maintained, by Cape Ann Trail Stewards volunteers. The terrain is very technical, with many steep ups and downs, extensive rocks and roots, and granite outcroppings.  A link to a map of the hiking route can be found here.

Due to the challenging terrain, this is NOT a hike for novice hikers.  Trekking poles, as well as shoes with good traction, are highly recommended!  Registration is limited to 20 people.

Meeting Spot:  We will enter the woods through a trail off of upper Pine St.  Cars may park off of the edge of the road along the side of Pine St., just south of the 128 bridge.  Please arrive early.  The hike will depart promptly at 12:30pm.

Please note that dogs are not permitted on this hike (see our monthly "Dog -friendly" hikes for opportunities to bring your dog).
