Sunday Morning Hike- Rockport South Woods

Join us for a scenic fall hike through the heart of Rockport’s South Woods.

This route will take us across Cape Pond and past Rum Rock Lake, then continue through deep woods along narrow, winding trails.   It is a moderate to challenging hike over rugged terrain, including a number of large “whalebacks.”  Part of the route forms segments of the Luce Trail, which we do end-to-end on the Ted Tarr Memorial Cross Cape Hike in October.

Total distance is about 3 miles.  Allow two hours from the starting point.

Meeting Spot: We will meet at the parking lot of the Rockport DPW on upper Main St., (168 Main St.) in Rockport (Route 127).   See the hike map for specifics.

Please arrive early (we recommend planning to arrive between 9:50 and 9:55 am in order to be ready for the group's 10 am departure).  The hike will depart promptly at 10 am.
