DUE TO THE WEATHER FORECAST FOR 9/21,
WE HAVE RESCHEDULED THIS HIKE FOR SATURDAY, 9/28
Join us for our Annual Trails & Sails hike across Magnolia Woods to the beautiful views off of the cliffs of Rafe's Chasm!
This hike takes us through Magnolia Woods, a 300-acre area of open space and woodlands owned by the City of Gloucester, along a trail that links the southern edge of the Trustees of Reservations Ravenswood Park with Gloucester's Rafe's Chasm Park. The walk will include spectacular views of the ocean from the dramatic Rafe's Chasm cliffs.
Allow approximately 2.5 hours for the trip, which includes ample time to stop and take in the ocean views at Rafe's Chasm before heading back on the trail through Magnolia woods to our starting point. Participants should be prepared to walk on uneven trails for 3 miles round trip.
Space is limited; reservations are required.
This hike is part of the Essex National Heritage Trails & Sails Event, taking place on the North Shore from September 14-29. To see other free events throughout the region, visit www.trailsandsails.org.
Meeting Spot: We will meet in the lower grass parking area of the Magnolia Woods Recreational Facility, located at 474 Western Ave. (Rte. 127) in Gloucester.
This is approximately 0.3 miles west of, and across the street from, the main entrance to Ravenswood Park. The parking area is on your left about 100 yards after turning into the Recreational Facility driveway from Western Ave./ Rte.127.
See map location HERE.
The hike will begin promptly at 10AM. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early for check-in.
Please note that dogs are not permitted on this hike.
