Sunday Morning Hike- Pine Pit to Blueberry Hill and Luce Trail (Sunday, August 30, 2026)

Join us for a hike along the Bay State rail trail, visiting Blueberry Hill and traversing parts of the Luce Trail.

Our route takes us from Pine Pit through the adjacent Mass Audubon parcel (Norwood Mills Wildlife Sanctuary), then along the Bay State rail trail to Blueberry Hill, down Johnson Rd to the Old Lanesville Road, joining the Luce Trail as it makes its way through the North Gloucester Woods, to return to the Bay State rail trail. If time permits, we will follow a loop through Woodland Acres on our way back to our starting point. Click HERE to see a map of the hiking route in Gaia GPS.

This is a moderate hike on mixed terrain with both easy sections and more difficult rocky hillsides. There may be a few wet spots. Total distance is 4.16 miles; allow about 2 to 2.5 hours.

Cape Ann Trail Stewards has recently created and published a new trail map for the Pine Pit and Woodland Acres area, which is now displayed on the trailhead kiosk at Pine Pit! Our volunteers have also recently installed updated colored trail markers in the area so that these trails are easier for visitors to navigate!

Click HERE to view the new CATS trail map, produced in partnership with the Rockport Rights of Way Committee.

Meeting Spot:

We will meet at the parking lot for the Pine Pit Conservation Area at the north end of Curtis St. in Rockport. The parking area is accessed by a dirt road that is right across from #63 Curtis St. See location in Google maps HERE.
